Homes for Heroes | South Bend, Mishawaka & Michiana

Real savings at closing for the people who serve our community. As a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, this program isn’t an add-on for me — it’s a personal commitment.

Why Homes for Heroes - and Why Joe

I served in the United States Marine Corps. I know what it means to show up, follow through, and put others first. That’s the same standard I bring to every real estate transaction — and it’s why partnering with Homes for Heroes made immediate sense to me.

Homes for Heroes is a national program founded after 9/11 that gives back to the people who serve: military, veterans, firefighters, EMS, law enforcement, healthcare workers, and teachers. When you buy or sell a home through an affiliated Homes for Heroes Realtor, a portion of the commission comes back to you as a cash reward at closing. No gimmick. No fine print. Just a tangible way to say thank you.

The average hero saves over $3,000 on a home purchase or sale. If you buy and sell, that number can exceed $6,000.

I’ve worked with veterans, first responders, and healthcare workers across South Bend, Mishawaka, and Granger. I understand the timelines, the VA loan process, the realities of PCS moves, and what matters most to service families choosing a home in northern Indiana. This isn’t a program I’m affiliated with because it looks good on a website. It’s a program I’m affiliated with because I’ve lived the service side of it. That’s why I’ve partnered with Homes for Heroes and McKinnies Realty

What Makes Homes for Heroes Special?

For me, it’s not just a program—it’s a mission. Helping fellow heroes find a place to call home isn’t just business. It’s personal.

Who Qualifies for Homes for Heroes Savings in Indiana?

Homes for Heroes

If you’re in one of the following categories and you’re buying, selling, or refinancing a home in South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, or near Notre Dame — you qualify:

How the Savings Work:

Indiana does not restrict Homes for Heroes rebates, so the full program benefit applies here. You do not need to use a special loan type. VA loans, FHA, conventional – the savings are separate from your mortgage program and show up as a cash reward after closing.

How Homes for Heroes Works at Closing

There’s no application process and no separate loan. Here’s exactly how it works:

  1. You register through the Homes for Heroes program or contact Joe directly.
  2. We confirm your hero status — this takes about two minutes.
  3. Joe represents you in your purchase or sale just like any other transaction — same full service, same market expertise, same negotiation.
  4. At closing, a portion of Joe’s commission is returned to you as a Hero Reward — a check in your hands typically within a week of closing.

The average hero saves $3,000 buying or selling. Buy and sell in the same transaction window and that number often exceeds $6,000. There is no catch and no reduced service level — you get Joe’s full attention and the savings on top of it.
